According to a 2024 forecast, Ranveer Singh will follow Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan as the third generation of Don. Soon after, the producers formally announced Don 3 starring Ranveer Singh, which marked Farhan Akhtar's comeback to directing after more than ten years. Kiara Advani was set to play the lead role in this action thriller a month later, but she had to withdraw from the high-profile film because she was pregnant. According to recent media sources, Kriti Sanon is currently the front-runner to play Don 3's female protagonist.

Sources familiar with the situation claim that Kriti Sanon and Ranveer Singh have reached an agreement in principle to lead Don 3, and they anticipate signing the contract within the next two weeks. “Farhan Akhtar and the creative team of Excel Entertainment were looking to cast an experienced actress with a screen presence on board Don 3, and Kriti Sanon fits the bill like hand in glove. She has the aura to play Roma on screen, and is excited to sign the dotted lines soon,” the source revealed.

According to rumors, Farhan Akhtar has already completed a significant portion of Don 3's location hunt and will shortly join an international stunt squad on the action sets. “Don 3 will be shot largely in Europe and the locations are already closed. The script is also locked, and all that remains now is slight polishing alongside the action design. The pre-production work will go on for the next few months, and the team is aiming to take the film on floors by October/November 2025,” the source revealed.
